Junior Explorers (Nursery)

A day at Little Hands Junior Explorers (Nursery)

At Little Hands Junior Explorers (Nursery), we aim to cultivate independent thinking in our children. Learning is viewed as an active, experiential process, engaging with one’s environment and self. Our program focuses on active inquiry, joyful learning and the resilience needed to overcome challenges. Experienced facilitators provide a nurturing environment, preparing children for formal education. In Nursery, children learn decision-making, early literacy, group cooperation and creativity through activities like connecting time, phonics, role-playing, outdoor play and more. These activities enhance cognitive and motor skills, preparing them for future learning.

MORNING BASKET

Arrival

Our facilitators greet Little Hands children at the gate with a puppet and a smile. Children share handshakes, hugs and high-fives on their way to class, making their morning joyful and delightful.

Circle Time

Children engage in circle time to improve their emotional and social interactions with classmates.

Life Skills

During this time, Little Hands children meditate, chant the Gayatri mantra and participate in Sanskaram. They also learn important life skills such as respecting elders, conserving energy and traditional gestures like touching feet.

Concept Time

We follow a thematic program throughout the year, with each month centred around a different theme in our curriculum.

Rhyme Time

Rhymes and songs support vocabulary acquisition and verbal development. These activities are experiential learning opportunities that enhance children's memory, focus and spatial intelligence.

02

ENGAGING AND INQUIRY LEARNING

Reading Time

Little Hands children enjoy the reading room, choosing books based on their interests. Facilitators ask thought-provoking questions to nurture curiosity and enhance communication skills in our young learners.

Montessori Time

Children at Little Hands confidently use the classroom's teaching tools, fostering enthusiasm and self-assurance in learning. Through exploration, inquiry and making connections, they are free to engage with the kit.

FINE & GROSS MOTOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT

At age 3, children develop independent finger movements and perform tasks like holding utensils, cutting with scissors, drawing faces, running, throwing and catching a ball without losing balance and jumping, which boosts their self-esteem and confidence.

04

LANGUAGE / LITERACY DEVELOPMENT

Teachers at Little Hands lay the foundation for reading and writing, where children learn to identify and recognize letters (both cases), name vocabulary, sing phonics songs, explore books, sight-read action words and blend and read two-letter words. Our children inquire and answer questions, create their own stories, describe themselves in five lines, confidently perform on stage and participate in various activities.

LOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

At Little Hands, children learn numbers up to 50 (oral and written), quantify objects, compare quantities, identify patterns, match numbers, circle the odd one out and solve real problems such as balancing a tall block building or sharing a bowl of crackers with a playmate.

They develop memory retention, logical thinking and the ability to reason and draw conclusions.

03

EXPRESSIVE ARTS & DESIGNS

Activity Time

Numerous activities are centred around the theme of the month, with Little Hands children participating in both individual and group art and craft projects such as tearing and pasting, ceramics, colouring, painting, fireless cooking, hand printing and more.

Worksheet Time

Worksheets are a potent tool for lifelong learning, fostering critical thinking and attention retention, allowing Little Hands students to use higher-order cognitive skills.

Recapitulation Time

We conduct recap sessions where students reflect on the day and connect lessons to enhance learning and solidify presented information.

Dispersal

Before leaving for the day, Little Hands children show their support and gratitude with smiles and stars. They wash their faces, hang their bags with a promise to return the next day, use the restroom and bid goodbye to their friends and teachers.
